Situation
Developing a Compliance Infrastructure to Ensure Future Success
A global management and information technology consulting firm needed assistance with proposal support and contract administration for their independent workforce. Their previous methods of independent contractor engagement and management were tedious and required various workarounds to engage independent contractors who were deemed non-compliant. Further, the consulting firm needed to revamp their internal compliance review process and streamline their overall engagement method.
GATE
By streamlining their engagement methods, the consulting firm was able to vastly improve independent talent partnerships. They lowered payment terms, simplified the onboarding process, and minimized compliance risk-practices which have increased overall independent contractor interest in working with the company.
Solution
Enhancing Program Visiblity and Containing Cost Simultaneously
MBO worked closely with high-level partners at the consulting firm to develop the infrastructure needed to support the firm's entire talent lifecycle. Under MBO's direction, the consulting firm was able to consolidate their population of independent contractors under one program, which flowed through MBO. This allowed the consulting firm and the independent contractors they engaged to work together in an easier, faster way.
By transitioning the administrative burden of contractor management to MBO, the consulting firm now has a greater ability to track time as well as billable and non-billable expenses for all contractors.
Due to the strong client relationship, MBO has also been able to assist the client in implementing a number of additional program aspects that were not part of the initial scope. This includes assistance in improving the client's proposal process, specifically revising it to help independent contractors qualify for small business certifications when applicable-a practice that helps the consulting firm meet certain federal contract requirements. The changes MBO made put the consulting firm in a better position to mitigate potential compliance risks and update their practices to align to an ever-changing regulatory climate.
